GeneralMost Macs have a Preferences folder inside the System folder, and these games look for your preferences there. If your Mac does not have a Preferences folder in that location, you may experience difficulties. Fortune Puzzles is the exception, as it does not create a preference file.
Please take the time to play the unregistered version to make sure you won't have any difficulties.
If you have a lot of fonts installed, our programs may run slowly.

I registered but haven't heard from youIn most cases, we respond within hours. If you haven't heard from us within 48 hours, we may be having trouble in contacting you. Email us to let us know that you have not received our emails. We will then post our email to you on a web page. We've set up a registration page to address this, as too many of you have email filters that are overly aggressive. Common reasons you won't receive our emails:
- You typed in your email address incorrectly when you registered
- Your mailbox is full
- Your email settings are set to not accept mail from anyone not on your buddy list
- Your email server is having a problem
- You've set your mail settings to block any unknown email addresses from reaching you (through your spam filter), so our emails are being deleted before reaching your mailbox
Try emailing us again, and if you have more than one email address, send the others. That way if there is a problem with one, we have another we can contact. Do not assume that if you are receiving SOME emails you are receiving ALL emails. If you email us a second time and have not heard anything for 4-5 days, try emailing from a friend's account, making sure to give your name of course. We fill all registration codes by email. But if you have not included a Game Code, then we cannot even generate a registration number for you until you do.

Blackjack Gold registrationThe Game Code is NOT the Registration Code. Entering the Game Code will not unlock the game. If you are entering the Registration Code that we sent you when you purchased, and it is not working, try the following:
Launch the game, ignore the window that comes up telling you that you are not registered. Wait for the game window to appear. Go to the Registration menu, choose Enter Registration #, and enter your number there.

Poker Dice registrationThe Game Code is NOT the Registration Code/Activation Key. Entering the Game Code will not unlock the game. Once you purchase the game and send us the Game Code, we will post your activation key on our new book site: Gityasome Books from Sharon Delarose We won't be emailing the activation key for Poker Dice during the 99 cent special. Our goal with this offer is to get your eyeballs on that website.

I double-click on the program but it won't openAll Gypsy King games must be unstuffed on Mac, or unzipped on Windows, before you can play them. If you've downloaded a Mac version with a .dmg file extension, this is a disk image. Any Mac with OSX should be able to open it. Once open, drag the game folder to your hard drive.

The game runs awfully slowIf you have a relatively new computer and the game runs slow, try increasing the memory allocated to the game in the Get Info window (Mac Classic). Sometimes having too many fonts loaded will cause the game to run slowly. Try booting your computer with the extensions off (hold down the Shift key when you start up on Macintosh) and then play the game. Upgrading to the latest OS may solve the problem as well if you are running system 9.x on Mac.. Upgrade to the most current 9.x. See the Apple web site for information on upgrading. Sometimes virus detection programs slow things down, as whenever the program saves data, it creates a temporary file on your disk, and your virus detection software may be kicking in to check these files. Try disabling such software temporarily and see if that speeds it up.

Game CodesThe Game Code is NOT your registration number. It is the number you send to us when you register, so that we can issue you a registration number to unlock the goodies of the game. To purchase any Gypsy King product, go to our Online Order Page Make sure to enter the Game Code. Once we've received your payment and Game Code, we will email you a Registration Number. If you forget to enter the Game Code when purchasing, we will email you and ask for it. You can also Pay with Paypal.

Purchasing our gamesWith the exception of Fortune Puzzles and Blew It, which are freeware, all Gypsy King games are shareware/keyware. Each game is functional in Lite mode in its unregistered state, but to unlock the extra goodies you must register the game. Most of our games are $19.95, with some exceptions. To register, go to: Online Order Page You can also Pay with Paypal. Make sure to enter the Game Code when you order. Each game has a Game Code. Either in the menu under Game Code or you may have to go to the Register screen, but somewhere there is a Game Code. If you forget to put it in the Comments area when you order, we will email you and ask for it. I downloaded the program but it won't workNote that some browsers have your preferences set to download/unstuff only the LATEST versions of stuffed programs, and will ignore any versions before that version. If you are having difficulty downloading, please check your browser preferences.
Sometimes errors occur when downloaded a large file, as with our Blackjack and Poker games. If you are downloading during peak internet hours it doesn't take much to get a transmission error that mangles the file. Try downloading during off hours, such as after midnight. If you still have trouble expanding a downloaded file, let us know. Email us.

Security CertificatesInternet Explorer versions earlier than 4.5 have a problem with Security Certificates when entering Secure sites (such as the Kagi site where you register). You can download the newer version for free from Internet Explorer. Make sure to download the latest version of Explorer, plus the patch if you are downloading version 4.5.
If you already have Internet Explorer 4.5 or later, you will still need to download the patch that updates the Security Certificates.

Small White Window
Game Not Working
Part Of Game HiddenThere is a conflict with Suitcase from Extensis that causes a small white window to appear, parts of the program to be hidden and not accessible, and generally the program not to work. Go to the advanced settings of Suitcase, and add the program to the excluded applications. Suitcase can be found in your Control Panels in the System Folder on Macintosh.

Sounds Don't WorkTry booting your computer with the extensions off. Start your computer holding down the Shift key on a Mac, and the happy Mac face will verify that the extensions are off. Sometimes other program's extensions cause conflicts. On Windows, make sure that your computer has sound capability.

The Game Launches Very SlowlyIf you have any corrupted fonts loaded on your computer, this can cause the game to load slowly, as it will get "hung up" on that font when loading. Also, certain versions of OS9 on Macintosh caused a conflict, but later versions of the OS fixed it. Try upgrading to OS 9.1 if you are experiencing this difficulty. Some virus detection software causes our programs to run slowly, such as Norton Antivirus. Data is saved frequently to the hard disk behind the scenes, to save your preferences and game status, and the antivirus checkers are constantly checking to make sure nothing is amiss, causing a slowdown. Note that Blackjack Gold may take a few seconds to load, especially on the first launch. We've compressed the images to create a smaller download, and the initial launch will uncompress them. This only happens on the first launch. After that, any slowdown would be due to the large number of images and objects in the game that need to load.

The Registration number won't work on my other computerOur games are designed to work on one computer only. You cannot use the same Registration number on other computers. If you have an issue with this, please go be mad at the folks who want to get the software for free. We are a very small company and the only way for us to continue to provide you with enjoyable games is for you to purchase the games from us. There isn't a way for us to have a "loose" registration system and make sure that only those who've paid for the game can use all of it's features. Unfortunately it is all too common for folks to take advantage of a "loose" registration system. If our games are of value to you, then you will understand that for us to keep bringing you games or game updates, folks must purchase our games.

Installing version 1.2.8
Version 1.2.8 has fundamental changes over previous versions for compatibility with Vista and Macintel. If you are installing 1.2.8 over a previous version, you WILL encounter errors unless you do a full uninstall of the previous version. The simplest way to do a full uninstall is:
Delete all game folders for previous versions of Blackjack Gold. Launch version 1.2.8, ignore any errors. Go into the Registration menu and choose Uninstall. This will clean out any remnants of the previous versions. Quit the game and relaunch it. You will have a new game code and be running free of errors. If you need a registration number for the new version, send us the new game code that is produced after the clean install.
Or, you can download version 1.3.0, which will install itself cleanly over any previous version.
Still hearing voices
Some of you have reported that you are still hearing voices after exiting the game. This issue is fixed in version 1.3.0. It occurred when you closed the game window without quitting the program, which left the game open in the background. It now quits the program if you've closed the game window.
Other problems
If you have any problems with Blackjack Gold, make sure you are using the latest version, which is always available on our website. There have been several updates, which address bug squishes and feature requests. If the latest version does not fix it for you, please send us a bug report.

Blackjack Royale 1.2If you are having download/expand troubles, make sure you have downloaded the latest version (currently 1.2) as previous versions had Stuffit difficulties. And read the advice regarding downloads. If you still have trouble, please let us know!
If you are on AOL, try uncompressing it using AOL. Then try expanding with Stuffit Expander. If this works for you and nothing else does, please let us know.
Must be played in color. Unstuff with Stuffit Expander 3.5.2 or newer. Tested on systems from 7.0 to 8.5. Compatible with systems in that range. Not recommended for monitors smaller than 14 inches. The memory can be set as low as 3000K, though gameplay will not be quite as smooth.
On smaller monitors (14 inch) you won't be able to see your accumulated winnings. Quitting from the menu takes you to the High Scores page before you quit. To Quit, either use command-Q or the Quit button on the High Scores page.
